Named after the Spanish hydrographer that sailed with the explorers, Galiano & Valdez, this once tiny fishing village is now a world famous, vibrant tourist destination with a wide variety of local galleries, artisans, restaurants, festivals and outdoor activities.

Chesterman Beach is one of nature’s gems on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This one and half mile long beach consists of the finest hard packed sand and is perfect for walks, bike rides, beach combing and surfing. Take a walk down the beach to Frank Island which is only a short stroll away during low tides and explore the fascinating marine life in the tidal pools of the rocky headlands at both ends of the beach.

The beach and the nearby mudflats in the Browning Pass Inlet are also an important place for migratory shorebirds, making it a paradise for anybody who enjoys bird watching.

The sunsets on Chesterman Beach have left their mark in the memories of many guests, who often return to this special place on the edge of the vast Pacific Ocean.
